Eddie McGuire is, according to critic Ken Walton in The Scotsman Newspaper, “The Best Scots Composer You’ve Never Heard Of”. That’s a crazy situation for a man who has been writing fantastic music for over 40 years, and it’s a situation that we at the Red Note Ensemble want to do something about.
With your help we can gather together enough money to make a CD of Eddie’s best-loved chamber music this summer. We have the opportunity of recording it for the highly-regarded Delphian Records – who have a string of award-winning recordings to their name, and international distribution – so we hope that by doing this we will begin to bring Eddie’s music a bit more of the attention that it has been deserving for all of these years.
The music we will be recording includes Eddie’s String Trio (1986), Quintet 2 (1987), Elegy (1992), Entangled Fortunes (2002) and Euphoria (1980), and we will be playing the first four of these at a concert to launch this crowdfunding campaign at St Silas Church, Glasgow on 14th June 2014 as part of the Cottier Chamber Project.
Making a CD is an expensive business. We have already found £7,150 from other sources towards the total budget of £11,150, and we’re hoping very much that we can raise the remaining £4,000 required through the generosity of people like you. Your kind donations will help us to pay for the recording engineer, the costs of production, and for the all-important publicity for the CD when it is released.
Thank you very much indeed for your support!
