The work in progress, Aeolian, draws its inspiration and working title from the “breath” of the accordion and will use the accordionist as a central musical and air-producing source.
The ensemble is connected to the air-stream provided by the accordionist’s «lungs» and other systems. The piece will be set up as an installation of modified, conventional and invented instruments, all acoustic, which will surround the audience.
The ensemble will consist of 12 players including various string, percussion and wind instruments. The performers’ actions will be initiated by the accordionist, in ways that are identifiable to the audience, and will resemble the notion of a kinetic sculpture.
