Red Note Ensemble: Methil Music Project Impact Report Dec 2023

This project was commissioned by Youth Arts Access Fund/Creative Scotland to enable young people in the Methil area of Fife to participate in the Arts and express how they view the world through the creation of their own words and melodies. 

An Easterhouse Children’s Manifesto: Impact Reportcoming soon

The project, an Easterhouse Children’s Manifesto, was developed over a year involving a co-creation by composer Brian Irvine and director John McIlduff (Dumbworld) in collaboration with the children of Oakwood Primary School in Easterhouse and Red Note Ensemble. Its aim was to offer the pupils at the school the opportunity to influence and have their voices heard in the design, delivery and key content of the project.

Career challenges: an exploration into potential barriers faced by Scottish emerging composers

This article by Dr Jill Martin (Co-Programme Lead MA Psychology in the Arts (Music), Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and published in the British Journal of Music Education, explores the potential barriers for emerging composers to constructing and maintaining a career in the field of composition in Scotland, viewed through the lens of both those early in their careers and the experience of others who have worked professionally for many years. The research was funded by Red Note Ensemble and New Music Scotland.
